The TIG-Tack Tube Clamp is your solution to aligning and securing tubing for tack welds. It usually requires multiple people to position, secure, and tack and weld a joint or spool assembly. With the TIG-Tack Tube Welding Clamp one person can easily accomplish both position welds and bench welding, increasing productivity and reducing labor costs.
TIG-Tack Tube Clamps are constructed of aluminum so the clamp also acts as a heat sink during tacking to reduce discoloration. They are compact and light enough that welders can carry around several clamps on the job. TIG-Tack Tube Clamps also give a concentric seal around joints, which grabs the entire surface, far superior to other clamps that put pressure in only a few points. However, it is important to follow the proper sequence when clamping a joint.
Properly Securing the TIG-Tack Clamp
Step 1) Apply the segment which has the pressure plate and fixed hinge.
Step 2) Swing the movable segment which has the tightening screw into position.
Step 3) Tighten the screw by hand using moderate pressure. (Never use a tool to tighten!)
Step 4) When removing the clamp, slight hand pressure may be required due to the tight fit.
Tacking the Joint
Tacks should be extremely small, and cause no discoloration so they may be easily welded over by an orbital welder or by hand. Following the tacking of the initial weld joint the clamp may be removed. It is recommended that a light duty welder be used with a small torch that will fit the opening provided in the clamp so that the arc may be struck directly on the joint. You should avoid striking the arc on the clamp.
Warranty
TIG-Tack Tube Clamps carry a six month warranty against defects in material or workmanship. This warranty is void if tools of any kind were used to tighten the clamp.
Please Note: The TIG-Tack Tube Clamp is NOT recommended for use with steel tube and fittings. It is designed for use with stainless steel tube and fittings only. NEVER use tools of any kind to tighten the clamp, hand tighten only. |
