Selecting the Correct Fuel Line Hose

Selecting the correct fuel line hose is dependent on the type of application. Once selected, the right fuel line hose can help prevent premature failure and damage to other components.

Gates offers the following types of fuel line hoses:

(MPI) Multi-Purpose Fuel and Injection Hose - SAE 30R9

  • Exceeds SAE 30R13 Standard
  • Qualified for
  • Gasoline
  • Diesel
  • Bio-diesel and blends
  • Ethanol and blends
  • Methanol and blends
  • Fluoroelastomer (FKM) tube resists permeation and deterioration caused by fuel additives
  • Meets new California CARB standard for off road vehicles
  • Recommended for 1985 and newer vehicles
  • Reinforced to handle pressures up to 180 psi
  • California Air Resource Board (CARB) approved for use in off-road equipment

Submersible Fuel Line Hose - SAE 30R10

  • 5/16" 100 psi working pressure; 500 psi burst
  • FKM tube and cover resist gasoline permeation and retarding due to age

Standard Fuel Line Hose - SAE 30R7

  • No longer used by the OEMs due to high permeation level: 37 times 30R9
  • Known as a general purpose hose for standard fuel and low oil pressure applications up to 35 psi in 3/8" and 50 psi in 5/16"; best used as PVC and EEC hose (vapors)
  • Not recommended for 1985 and newer vehicles
