HP Starter Shields™ prolong your starter's life and improve its performance! Heatshield starter heat shields help prevent starter failure caused by overheating. Quality construction and design allow for easy installation. Simply wrap the heat shield cover around the starter and fasten with the built in hook and loop fasteners; starter removal is not necessary in most cases. Two different sizes are available so trimming is not necessary. The 1/2" thick, heavy-duty starter shield is recommended in situations where there is less than 1" of air space between the heat shield and the heat source. This shield utilizes double insulation rather than a reflective finish due to the close proximity of the heat source. The standard shields are just 1/16" thick and utilize a reflective aluminum faced finish to protect your starter. The small starter shield (#501010) is designed specifically for small high torque starters. Investing a little now can save you time and money in the future! The hook and loop seam should be faced away from the heat source for optimal protection.
